Green Tea

Green Tea Leaves

What is Green Tea?

This tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensiswhich originates in China. It undergoes minimal oxidation during processing.

It has become associated with many Asian cultures from Japan to the Middle East.

Recently, it has become popular in the West, where, traditionally, black tea has been normally consumed.

It is high in caffeine, tannin (flavonols), saponins, theophylline, theobromine, fat, wax, essential oils, and polyphenols, especially catechins, carotene, fluoride, minerals such as iron, magnesium, calcium, strontium, copper, nickel and zinc and vitamins A, B1, B12, C, K and P.

It also has trace elements of 300 other substances, as well as as molybdenum and phosphorus.

These elements, vitamins and minerals can be effective against different types of cancer, particularly esophageal cancer, colon cancer, liver cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer.

Green Tea Benefits

Its most powerful benefit is its antioxidant capacity against cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, aging, diabetes, and many other serious diseases.

Polyphenols are powerful antioxidants that fight diseases. Research shows that polyphenols can deter some forms of cancer by preventing cancer cells from turning into tumors.

There are many types of polyphenols but the strongest and most powerful, which this tea contains are catechins.

Catechins were discovered in 1970. A study was performed in Shizuoka, Japan when it was found that people living in Shizuoka Prefecture have much lower rates of cancer.

Another benefit is weight loss. Studies have shown that the properties of this drink experienced three times the weight loss of the women who were simply dieting.

Green Tea Benefits:

  • Fights against cancer

  • Helps stabilize diabetes

  • Prevents cardiovascular disease
  • It keeps your skin acne-free, making it healthier looking

  • Assists in weight loss regimen

  • Slows the aging process due to its antioxidant properties

  • Aids in digestion

  • Encourages bowel regularity

Does The Extract Have the Same Benefits?

It does, indeed, provide the same benefits as its twin in a cup.

It is produced in much the same way as other herbal extract and tinctures are made.

To produce the extract, the leaves of Camellia sinensis are steeped (typically in alcohol) to extract the essential oils. Like other extracts, after the alcohol evaporates, what is left behind is pure extract.

The potent phytochemicals and powerful antioxidants in the extract are the reason this tea is so popular.

Studies have shown it to be effective in boosting the immune system, speeding up the metabolism and aiding in weight loss!

You will find green tea commonly listed as a main ingredient in many fat burning supplements. It is one of nature’s fat burners.

Studies also show that it can reduce the risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, aid in the regulation of blood sugar and inhibit some forms of cancer growth.

Cholesterol and Green Tea

Due to its abilities to reduce fatty deposits in the liver, studies show that it may also help to lower cholesterol.

cup of green tea Where can I find This Beverage?

You can find this beverage in your local grocery store, in health food stores or at your local convenience store.

It has become a popular drink, both hot and cold. However, it does have some side effects which should not be overlooked.

Side Effects Drinking Green Tea

Green tea has caffeine, tannins and catechins. Most people who drink it have few side effects, but due to the fact that it contains about half as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, pregnant women should check with their doctor before beginning any type of ongoing consumption.

Children may become over-stimulated by its caffeine. The same tannins that provide weight loss in adults may block absorption of necessary nutrients and fats and proteins in children.

General Side Effects May Include:

Restlessness

Difficulty Sleeping

Irritability

Heart Palpitations

Stomach Upset

Caffeine in any form can increase heart rate and blood pressure.

Diabetes patients should be aware that caffeine can increase blood sugar levels.

People with psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety or panic disorders, or those with an overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism may experience adverse effects.

Patients with severe liver disease may also experience negative effects because the liver has to work to remove caffeine levels in the blood, which may build to higher levels and take longer for the liver to remove.

Green tea tablets are also available, but be careful not to take too many. Read package directions.

So, if you have any other health concerns, play it safe.

In our fast moving world, sometimes we think if a little of something is good for us, a lot of it would create the desired results much faster.

Please remember,...all things should be done in moderation.

A quick call to your doctor or health care professional is a good idea before drinking green tea.

*NOTE: If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor before before trying any natural remedy.
