Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie

A Blender Strawberry Smoothie Recipe!
Want to make a Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie? It's easy! Making a homemade fruit smoothie is easier and faster than making Jello. No smoothie recipe book is needed. All you need is your blender and a little imagination when you walk down the produce aisle in the grocery store. When you go shopping, just look at all the different fruits and vegetables and think to yourself: "What different fruits would I like to put in my smoothie recipe?" Eating more antioxidants doesn't necessarily mean you need to fill your kitchen shelves with bottles of supplement capsules. For the purist, there are lots of specific breakfast smoothie recipes with exact ingredients, but you don't really need a recipe to make a homemade fruit smoothie which is high in antioxidants. The only thing you have to remember is that if you have a standard blender, its motor doesn't usually have enough horsepower to chop a lot of "hard" vegetables like carrots and apples very well or very efficiently if you don't cut them up in small pieces, first, or at least it will take it a while. Basics to Keep On Hand For Your Smoothies You will need some sort of liquid to use as a base. There are lots of choices. In the Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie recipe, below, we've used almond milk and coconut milk. Smoothie Liquid: The base liquid you use in your smoothie can be just about anything. Some people use regular milk, or even a little water. A little of any kind of fruit juice, such as pomegranate, cranberry, grape juice, orange juice, etc. works very well, too. Canned fruits (drained) that you have on the shelf can also work. These might include peaches, apricots, fruit cocktail, cherries, grapes, or anything you have on hand, even some leftover jello in the refrigerator, but these all contain a lot more processed sugar (dextrose) than your fresh fruit (fructose) does. Some people add a raw egg to their fruit smoothie recipes. (You can't taste it.) However, we didn't use an egg in our strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe, but we could have. Eggs are high in protein. We could also have added a few whole or chopped nuts. Chestnuts, pecans and walnuts are high in antioxidants and once they are blended, they do not leave chunks of nuts in your drink. So, if you don't like the taste of some nuts, just sprinkle a few in your smoothie. Most fruits have a lot of liquid in them, so may be surprised at how little liquid you will need. See the picture, below and you can see that you only need about 1 inch or an 1-1/2 inches of liquid in your blender. In this picture, we've also added a handful of chopped English walnuts which you can see on top of the other ingredients.

The biggest mistake a lot of people make is to use too much liquid and then their blender strawberry smoothie recipe ends up frothy and watery rather than thick and creamy. The second mistake people make is to add to much of a strongly flavored ingredient. In fruit smoothies, ingredients such as cacao, ginger root, pineapple and some others, too, can take away from the light fruity taste of the other blended ingredients. How To Make a Smoothie Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie Makes 2 - 8 ounce glasses Ingredients Almond Milk Natural Unsweetened Yogurt Coconut Milk Strawberries - fresh Pineapple Spear - fresh Banana - fresh Papaya - fresh Organic, Raw Chocolate Powder Blender: Pour 1/4 cup of coconut milk and 1/4 cup of almond milk into the blender, first. The reason you place the liquid into the blender, first, is that it blends the fruits faster than if you pour it in last. Add 1/2 teaspoon of raw, organic cacao powder and 3 heaping tablespoons of natural, unsweetened yogurt. Now add your fruit, (in any order) 1 spear of fresh pineapple 5 big strawberries - (remove tops) 1/2 of a small papaya - (peeled) 1 whole banana - (peeled) Put the top on the blender. Turn on the blender for a few seconds (we used the Frappee button), until you can see that everything has been pureed and no chunks remain and then pour this smooth, tasty drink into your glasses and enjoy!

Fast Food Aside from the obvious health benefits that a fresh strawberry pineapple smoothie gives to you and your family, clean up is a breeze (a couple glasses, the blender, a knife and your cutting board). Fresh, healthy breakfast "fast food" at its best! High in Antioxidants and Vitamins: No grease, no scrubbing a skillet and when you leave for work, you know that you have fed your family a nutritious and healthy breakfast drink which is high in antioxidants Antioxidants: raw cacao powder and raw fruits Vitamin C: strawberries Acidophilus: yogurt Potassium: banana ...And best of all, low in processed sugar. (Almond milk, yogurt and coconut milk may have some sugar in them). There are lots of other ways to make a strawberry pineapple smoothie that are not as nutritious, but would work in a pinch if you don't have fresh fruit on hand. You can use frozen strawberries and canned pineapple (crushed or chunk), or even use pineapple juice as your liquid, however making a breakfast drink from canned ingredients usually has more added sugar and doesn't taste as "light" and flavorful as when you use fresh fruits. Most commercially sold smoothie drinks, such as you might buy from the kiosk at the shopping mall are high in sugar. They are made using water, ice, some dried flavoring powder and some of them just add some Mango jam or Blueberry jam or other jams or jellies. The best thing about a strawberry pineapple smoothie, (or any fresh fruit smoothie recipe) is that you can change it to fit your own taste. Try a little kiwi fruit or even a little tofu. It's fun, it's easy and it's healthy!
