Stress Can Be Reduced by Increasing Antioxidants-Natural Supplements in Our Daily Diet

Stress can play a role on your health. If prolonged it takes a heavy toll on the body and increases your risk of everything from heart disease, obesity, and infection to anxiety, depression, and memory problems. We all face different challenges and obstacles, and sometimes the pressure is hard to handle.

When we feel overwhelmed or unsure how to meet the demands placed on us we experience stress. It's essential to learn how to deal with stress in a more positive way and reduce its impact on your daily life.

One way to reduce it is to improve our health by consuming more antoxidants in our diet along with physical activity (exercises). If you don't know what antioxidants are please see my Home Page . We need them to improve and maintain our health and in turn we have more energy and feel better. I know the better I feel the less stress I experience.

Scientists find it difficult to define stress because it is a subjective sensation associated with varied symptoms that differ for each of us. For an example, a steep roller coaster ride that causes fear and anxiety for some can prove highly exciting for others. Winning a race or election may be more stressful than losing but this is a good stress. The potential causes of it are numerous and highly individual.

What are Some Ways to Relieve Stress?
There are many different ways to relieve stress. You can learn how to utilize and transform it so that it will make you more productive and less self-destructive. Here are some ways to decrease stress:
  • Increase your antioxidants in your daily diet such as fruits and vegetables, healthy chocolate, or other natural supplements (see below).
  • Increase your physical activities such as walking, jogging, aerobic exercising, etc.
  • Try different types of meditation such as prayer, etc.
  • Try listening to music, hobbies, volunteer work, keeping a daily journal of events and how they feel, laughter, playing with pets, playing with grandchildren, and taking short breaks for shopping always helps me to relax.
  • Try various progressive muscular relaxation exercises such as massage therapies or deep breathing are popular among others. Check out this website on Chair Massage is For You . It provides information on massage therapy to relieve stress and pain and make you feel better. Also, tips on how to become a massage therapist.
  • Try acupuncture, acupressure, biofeedback and other bodywork and postural techniques.
  • Very importantly, have a strong emotional support such as family and/or friends, very powerful stress buster.

Can Natural Supplements or Antioxidant-Rich Foods Help Reduce Stress or Calm Nerves?

Yes! Recent research suggests that anywhere from 60 to 90 percent of illnesses are stress-related. We often get busy and forget to take care of our bodies. We get caught under loads of stress from our jobs, home, and other factors that keeps us from taking "Me Time". We have to remember that if we don't take care of ourselves then who is going to do the work after we are gone. I want to have quality time in my life so I can enjoy my grandchildren, husband and family so this means I have to take care of myself.

I'm a firm believer in natural supplements. I realize some people have to take prescription drugs, but they scare me. Here are a few natural supplements and/or Antioxidant-Rich Foods to reduce stress and calm nerves:

  • Dark Chocolate: As we know chocolate is a stress-reliever. People has used this for many years to relieve stress. Now you can eat chocolate and not have to worry about gaining weight or hurting your health. I have found Healthy Chocolate that is great for your health, just like eating your fruits and vegetables, except you have a lot more fun eating chocolate. This chocolate is made with unprocessed cacao, freeze-dried acaiberries, blueberries and many other natural ingredients that can benefit your health by lowering blood pressure, decreasing your risk for heart disease, cancer, and many other diseases. This is my favorite!!
  • Fruits & Vegetables: Most of our Moms have told us to eat our fruits and veggies-well guess what she was right. Please see my Fruits and Vegetables Page.
  • Acai Berry: Acai Berry is a fruit from the Amazon Rainforest. It is know as Nature's Superfood Antioxidant and has been around for thousands of years. It is also known as the Number 1 Superfood in the world.
  • Nutri-Calm: This is a key product designed to support the nervous system, especially when under stress. During times of stress, the body rapidly loses B vitamins. Nutri-Calm provides generous amounts of these nutrients in a base of herbs known to support optimal nervous system health.

Just remember you have to keep stress under control. Take a stand against overscheduling, be realistic, get a good night's sleep, learn to relax, treat your body well, watch what you're thinking, and solve the little problems. Make up your mind today that you are going to manage your stress so that it doesn't effect your health and wellness.

*NOTE: If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor before before trying any natural remedy.
